Meet Dalton – A Little Independent, A Lot of Potential, and Ready for His Person!! ❤️
Dalton and his littermates are currently with our partner rescue in Mississippi and awaiting a foster or adopter to bring them to NJ to find their furever family!
Meet Dalton, a handsome Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd mix with a big personality and a whole lot of intelligence! With his beautiful reddish coat and adorable black muzzle, he's quite the looker. But Dalton isn't just another cute face. This boy has a mind of his own, and he's looking for someone who will appreciate his smarts, bring out his best, and help him continue becoming the wonderful companion he's meant to be.
Dalton is one of those dogs who likes to have a say in how things go. He's clever, playful, and sometimes a little stubborn, but underneath that independent streak is a loyal boy who wants to please his people. He's already started working on self-regulation and learning how to make good choices. He has a nice foundation in place, and his future family will have the opportunity to continue building on that progress with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement.
Dalton will do best with an adopter who is confident, patient, and willing to provide clear boundaries and continued training. Think of him as a smart kid who occasionally needs a reminder that the grown-ups are in charge! Give him the guidance he needs, and you have the potential for an incredibly loyal companion who will stick by your side.
Currently weighing approximately 20–25 pounds, Dalton is expected to grow to around 55–60 pounds. He has a moderate energy level and will enjoy regular exercise, playtime, mental stimulation, and a family who understands that a growing pup needs both structure and affection. He's not housetrained yet, so he'll also need patience and consistency as he learns his new routine.
Dalton is friendly with adults, good with children, and gets along with other dogs. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown. A home with a yard would be ideal for him.
Dalton may not be the dog who simply goes along with everything, but that's part of what makes him special. He's smart, full of personality, and has so much potential. He's looking for someone who sees beyond the stubborn moments and is excited to help him grow into his very best self.
If you love a clever, independent pup with a loyal heart and a personality all his own, Dalton might just be your boy! ❤️
Dalton is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Dalton has been neutered and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $600.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
