Meet Derek – Your Lovable Little Shadow! ❤️
Derek and his littermates are currently with our partner rescue in Mississippi and awaiting a foster or adopter to bring them to NJ to find their furever family!
If you’re looking for a best friend who believes personal space is overrated, Derek may be your guy! This affectionate boy is happiest when he’s right by your side. Whether you’re moving from room to room, working in the garden, or making a late-night trip to the kitchen, Derek will be your loyal little sidekick. Bathroom breaks? You may never have privacy again!
Derek is a gentle, loving boy with a playful and goofy side. He enjoys his toys, is eager to please, and has a sweet way of making you feel like the most important person in the world. He’s friendly with new people and gets along with other dogs and children, too. He has a moderate energy level, so he’ll enjoy time to play and explore, but he’s just as happy spending time close to his favorite people.
Derek is still a young pup, currently around 20–25 pounds, with an estimated adult weight of 50–60 pounds. He isn’t house-trained yet, so his new family should be ready to help him learn the ropes with patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement. He may also have a thing or two to say now and then, as he does enjoy using his voice!
Cats are an unknown, so introductions would need to be handled thoughtfully.
If you want a sweet, devoted companion who will happily follow you through all of life’s little adventures, Derek is ready to make himself right at home. He’s not just looking for a family—he’s looking for his people, and he can’t wait to love them with his whole heart! ❤️
Derek is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Derek has been neutered and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $600.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
