[YELLOW]Background: Brought in stray by ACO. Given Green dot on intake. Updated to Yellow for volunteer handling. Reason: Green volunteer reported that dog was difficult to leash due to jumping in the kennel. Walked well on leash for some parts of the outing, sniffing and taking treats. Began jumping and mouthing at the volunteer's arms towards the end of the outing. Dog had dilated pupils and was difficult to control. Observations noted from several staff and volunteer interactions during dog socialization walks and playgroups.O: Dog approaches handlers with lowered body and head, soft and loose wagging tail and body language. Jumps up with loose and wiggly body language. Goes down and rolls over when handler engages with pets. Leans in and rolls over for pets all over head, neck, chest, belly. Soft musculature and relaxed open mouth throughout. Responds to sit, takes treats. Does not pick up toys.B A: Social. affiliative, seeks out interaction with handlers. Medium energy. Dog is generally very soft, submissive, and relaxed with handlers through may become overstimulated during some higher energy interactions and/or with treats. Did not show interest in toys.B Has minimal training - knows sit, walks somewhat erratically on leash, with lots of handler interaction. Yellow for volunteer handing d/t potential for jumpy and mouthy behavior with high arousal.P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Dog may be jumpy and mouthy when excited, which may make a home with young children less suitable.B Recommend volunteers work with him to manage high arousal jumping and mouthing by offering treats low, engaging dog with lower arousal enrichment treat-finding games or toys, and avoiding activities that appear to trigger high arousal.[2026-08-14 13:20:00.000]
