[BLUE]Background: Brought in stray by finder on 8/5/26. Finder noted that dog is bx00#28;friendly, loveable, and gets along with anyonebx00#29; and that dog was calm/relaxed in the car. Staff noted dog was bx00#28;very fearful/skittish; growled and curled lips when scanning, showed teeth when attempting to handle; needed help to do intake.bx00#29; Dog was not approachable for the first 3 days in the shelter. Volunteers have been taking her out daily since that time. Volunteer handling notes to date are consistent with staff handling notes. Second time meeting handler for evaluation on 8/10/26.B O: Dog was sitting at the front of the kennel leaning against the door. Soft face, no change in expression as handler approached and spoke to her. Stood up as handler opened the door. Easy to leash. Walked ahead of handler with moderate pulling down the hallway, high soft wagging tail. Dropped leash in the yard. Handler crouched. Dog approached handler and accepted pets around chin, then sat to lean against handler. Leaned into pets all over head, neck, chest, shoulders, back, with soft face relaxed musculature. Showed front teeth at hands in front of snout. Did not follow tossed toys. Did not take treats. Walked with moderate pulling back to kennel. Dog followed handler into kennel. Removed slip leash by hand while petting dog around the neck and head.B A: Sensitive and unsure presentation initially, but warms up with time. Affiliative and approaches readily for pets/handling once she is comfortable. Shows enjoyment with pets. Presents as low energy. Walks well on leash with moderate pulling. Volunteers report that she knows sit and down.B Did not show any interest in toys or treats. Blue for volunteer handling d/t timid presentation and some showing of teeth (possibly submissive grin). Consider for Yellow if recommended by Crew volunteers.B B P: Make available for adoption by appointment. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children, however, sensitivity to initial handling may make a home with young children less suitable. Potential adopters should be familiar with the characteristics of Husky breed dogs (require regular grooming, tendency to be vocal, jump / dig under fences, potential for prey drive), and be prepared to provide sufficient exercise and enrichment.[2026-08-13 03:25:00.000]
