Meet Sandy Sunny, the chi-bull (chihuahua x pitbull mix). Although 8 years old, this guy does not act like a senior. Sandy Sunny arrived to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. He previously lived with another dog (a female) but was a bit incessant on his humping of her. A home with another dog may be a fit but adopters are recommended to oversee the interactions between dogs, especially in the transition. Sandy rides nicely in the car and is a good sized adventure buddy to join in on his new familyâs adventures. We do not have any history of Sandy in a home with felines or children. Sandy is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
