Meet Debo, the handsome male Doberman mix. Debo came to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. He grew up in a home with a teenagers and has experience around younger children. Debo has briefly been exposed to felines in a temporary home and saw them but has not met them. A home with dog-savvy felines and a very slow, thoughtful introduction may be a fit in his next home. Debo was described as house trained in his previous home and also was crate trained He has been endearing and social with people since his arrival to the Shelter. As a youngster, he still has plenty of energy and would thrive with an active adopter who will get out his energy through walks, hikes and positive reinforcement based training. Based on observations at the Shelter, Debo is a bit under-socialized around other dogs. A home with a well-socialized dog may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction at the Shelter as well as management in the home. Debo is looking for a guardian that will be patient with him as he transitions to the home. An adopters that will be with Debo more often than not, especially as he is transitioning, will help Debo to acclimate to a schedule and his new family.The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
