Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Although Chikitrina has lived in a home before, every rescue dog needs time to adjust to new surroundings and routines.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to learn your household routine
3 Months to fully settle into family life
Chikitrina is eager to bond with her new family and will continue to flourish with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Her new family should continue providing:
Positive reinforcement training
Daily walks and gentle playtime
Consistent routines
Continued socialization
Plenty of love, reassurance, and affection
With a little time and a lot of love, Chikitrina will become the loyal companion she's meant to be.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Adopting Chikitrina is a lifelong commitment that includes proper veterinary care, exercise, companionship, and a loving home.
As part of responsible pet ownership, Chikitrina will need:
Annual veterinary wellness examinations
Routine vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian
Monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
A balanced diet to maintain a healthy weight
Daily moderate exercise and mental enrichment
Continued training and socialization
A safe indoor home where she is treated as a cherished member of the family
Because Pugs are a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, Chikitrina should avoid overheating and strenuous exercise during warm weather. Fresh water, shade, and climate-controlled environments will help keep her comfortable and healthy.
