Meet Lilo, the Yorkshire terrier mix gal. Lilo came into the Shelter with some other dogs after their previous guardians were unable to continue caring for them. Although initially reserved, once Lilo know you she is cuddly and affectionate. Lilo is a lap dog and wants to be with her person as much as she can, including sleeping in their bed at night! When meeting other dogs at the shelter, Lilo has coexisted. On walks she has been dog selective; some big dogs scare her. A home with another dog may be a fit after a meet ân greet at the Shelter. Lilo has tried to chase cats, so a feline free home is recommended. Lilo appears to be housetrained. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
