Meet Sour Patch Kid, the black and white terrier mix. Sour Patch Kid was found by a good Samaritan along with 5 other dogs. He was running down the road. Lucky for him, the person was able to safely contain the dogs and bring them into the Shelter for safety. Sour Patch Kid seems to be inexperienced with new people, places and things. He can be barky and worried with new people but softens with time and patience. He is still perfecting life skills and manners like potty training and leash walking so adopters should be patient in the transition. Positive reinforcement based training will help Sour Patch Kid to learn new things and bond with his new family. Sour Patch Kid has met other dogs at the Shelter - those he arrived with and some new friends. He prefers not to share his favorite things (yummy food, toys and treats) with other dogs in small spaces. He may enjoy a canine companion in the home after a meet and greet at the Shelter. We do not have any history of Sour Patch Kid with cats or children. On Saturday, October 31st, the Shelter is celebrating Halloween through an âAdopt Your Booâ special. This dogâs adoption fee is reduced to $31.Sour Patch Kid is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
