Meet Lobo, the adolescent husky. Lobo came into the Shelter as a stray â true to the nature of the Nordic breeds he likely ran off due to some wanderlust. As an adolescent, Lobo would thrive in a home where he receives daily mental and physical stimulation. Adopters should plan on bonding with him through positive reinforcement training to teach him new skills and channel his smarts for good. A home with dogs may be a fit but any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Lobo may not be every dogâs cup of tea due to his forward play style. A home with small animals and cats is not recommended due to typical breed specific prey drive. We do not have any history of Lobo with children. Lobo is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. On Saturday, October 31st, the Shelter is celebrating Halloween through an âAdopt Your Booâ special. This dogâs adoption fee is reduced to $31.The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
