Meet Biscuit, the 7 month old Pitbull Malamute mix. Biscuit arrived to the Shelter as an owner surrender after his previous guardian realized that they did not have the resources to care for a puppy. Biscuit is an engaging puppy who often melts into pets and affection. He has lived in a home with teens, men and women previously and did well. When interacting with other dogs, Biscuit can come on strong in his interest in playing. He lived with a senior dog previously who was not a fan of his exuberance. Biscuit is still working on his social skills in acknowledging that some dogs donât want to play as hard as he does. A home with a dog who enjoys playing hard may be a fit after a meet ân greet at the Shelter. Typical to pups his age, Biscuit is still perfecting some life skills and manners. He is reportedly potty trained from his previous home but adopters should be mindful that accidents may occur in the transition to the new home. Adopters should plan to provide daily mental and physical stimulation for Biscuit as he can get mouthy when he is understimulated. Biscuit has lived with cats and solicited play from them. A home with dog-savvy cats may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. He knows âsitâ and âstayâ and loves to be rewarded with treats. Biscuit would be a fun dog to bond with through positive reinforcement based training. Biscuit is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
