Meet Roo, the adorable kangaroo-like pup! Roo came into the Shelter as a stray found dragging a blue rope. With his stray hold expired, he is now eligible for adoption. We are not sure of Rooâs exact breed or age so we just took a good guess.Roo recently spent time in a home environment with a couple and their female boxer. The foster family reports: Roo has been an AMAZING foster. He is so intelligent, quick to learn commands and an incredible listener. Within one weekend with him he has become so patient with our resident dog and really is an amazing young boy. He reads cues from our resident dog very respectfully and would really thrive with another animal in the house. Roo has made quick friends with just about every animal weâve come across! Small dogs, cats and our resident dog. Roo also is very in tune with his name, and his name is actually so perfect. Roo is goofy and silly and bouncy! He would make an amazing family dog and would THRIVE with other animals in the house. We have had amazing luck potty training, he knows now where the doggy door is and takes the command to go potty before bed seriously. Roo has really blossomed in our home and with our resident dog.Roo's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
