About Ariel’s Breed:
Our best guess is that Ariel is a Yorkshire Terrier mixed breed. Yorkshire Terriers may be tiny, but they come with big personality. Beneath their dainty, silky coats lies a feisty, bold, and confident terrier heart. Yorkies were originally bred as tough little ratters in English mills, which explains their spirited, sometimes bossy nature and their alert, curious attitude. They’re affectionate with their families, often bonding closely with their chosen person, and they carry themselves with unmistakable pride.
Yorkies thrive in a home that matches their big dog confidence and small dog sensitivity. They do best with adults or families with older, gentle children who understand how to handle a tiny dog with care. Because they bond closely with their people, they love homes where they can be included in daily routines rather than left alone for long stretches. Regular grooming is a must, so an adopter who can keep up with coat care is ideal.
A Yorkie’s perfect home is one that appreciates their mix of sass, loyalty, and charm where they can feel safe, adored, and just a little bit spoiled.
What to Love about Ariel:
She’s sweet, snuggly, and affectionate—especially when she chooses you as her person. Once she warms up, she becomes loyal, loving, and delightfully attached — the kind of girl who wants to be adored and truly cherished.
Ariel is looking for an experienced, adult-only home due to resource guarding behaviors and a history of escalating to using her teeth if boundaries are not respected.
Ariel has a medium energy level: playful enough to keep things fun, but not over-the-top. She gets along with other dogs, though she prefers to be the leading lady in the home. Kids? Hard pass — Ariel wants to be the baby of the house. She hasn’t met cats yet, but may tolerate them if they respect her space.
She’s potty trained, crate trained, and thrives with routine and patience.
Ariel will do best with an adopter who understands canine body language and is committed to positive, structured handling. She communicates clearly through growling when uncomfortable, and those signals must be respected—not corrected or punished. Ariel has shown that if her warnings are ignored, she may escalate to using her teeth. With proper management, predictable routines, and continued work on boundaries and resource guarding, she can continue to make progress. Giving her time to decompress, avoiding pressure, and building trust at her pace will be key to her success
She has made great progress in a calm, structured foster home where she was given time to decompress and build trust slowly. With her trusted person, she allows handling, being picked up, leashing, and full-body pets—but that trust must be earned.
A fenced yard is recommended while she continues working on leash skills, and she will thrive with someone who appreciates a little sass mixed with a whole lot of sweetness.
If you’re looking for a tiny queen with charm, attitude, and endless snuggles—and you’re willing to respect her boundaries—Ariel is ready to rule your heart.

No-Nonsense Disclosure
Ariel has a history of resource guarding and will bite if her boundaries are pushed. She has guarded food, space, and her person, and has escalated beyond growling when not respected. She is not a fit for homes with children or inexperienced owners. She requires an adult-only, dog-savvy home willing to manage her behavior and continue training. Full transparency is essential to ensure the right match—she will not do well in a home that cannot respect and work with these behaviors.
