Meet Pippi, who is basically a tiny package of happy, playful, cuddly terrier energy!
Pippi loves everything—toys, bones, treats, food, people, dogs, playing, cuddling… if it’s fun, Pippi is all in! She is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being part of the action and would happily spend her days playing with her people, romping with a canine friend, and then curling up for some well-deserved snuggles.
This little girl has plenty of energy, so Pippi is looking for an active family who will give her lots of attention, playtime, and opportunities to burn off that energy. She would love to have another playful dog in the home, although a canine companion is not required as long as her family is home frequently and able to give her plenty of interaction and outlets for exercise.
And when we say Pippi is quick, we mean QUICK! She loves to run, so a securely fenced yard would be a huge bonus. If her new family doesn't have a fenced yard, she'll need plenty of regular exercise, such as multiple walks each day, trips to the dog park, and other fun activities that keep her body and brain busy. Because of her young-dog energy, keeping her appropriately exercised and mentally stimulated will help her be a happy, well-behaved pup.
Pippi isn't especially vocal on her own, but in true terrier fashion, she has no problem joining the neighborhood choir when the other dogs start barking. She is also still working on some of her puppy skills. She's learning that the crate isn't quite as exciting as everything else in life, and she's working on her leash-walking skills as well. As a young dog, Pippi is still learning how to read and respect other dogs' cues. She absolutely loves to play and sometimes needs a little help recognizing when another dog isn't interested in playing—or when they would prefer a different kind of play. Because of this, a home with a senior dog may not be the best fit for her, but she would thrive with a playful canine companion who enjoys having a young, energetic friend.
Continued training will be important for Pippi as she grows into the very best dog she can be. Luckily, she is very food motivated, which makes training both productive and fun!
More than anything, Pippi needs a family who wants to engage with her, play with her, teach her, and include her in the fun. She is a bright, happy little dog who simply loves being a dog. Give her plenty of activity, attention, affection, and opportunities to learn, and this sweet girl is sure to keep her family laughing and loving her every step of the way.
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
