[YELLOW]Background: Brought in stray by finder on 9/3/26. Finder noted that the dog bx00#28;just let us grab himbx00#29; and dog was in their home for 3 days with no issues. Dog was scared to get in the car. Given Yellow dot on intake as dog would not walk on leash and kept pancaking in the hallway. Tolerated all handling for intake procedures, including vaccines. Summary of handling notes from two consecutive days of handling and volunteer handling notes to date. O: Clean kennel. Lowered head, soft eyes, low wagging tail at the front of the kennel. Comes out slowly and easy to leash with the door open. Walks just alongside or just behind handler on leash with lowered/tucked body language, low tail, and flattened ears. Off leash in yard. Dog orients to handler and approaches when handler crouches and speaks to him. Soft face and low wagging tail with pets all over head and neck. Steps forward after consent check. Stays still, not relaxed, but tolerant of all over touch along back, legs, chest and belly. Tolerant of teeth check. Approximately 2-3 years old. Does not respond to verbal or hand signal cue for sit. Does not take offered treats. Ears pricked and loose body language with high tail when chasing tossed tennis ball. Catches ball in the air and returns ball, dropping it at handlerbx00#25;s feet. Loose and prancy step while playing several rounds of fetch. Urinates and defecates in the yard. Entered kennel ahead of handler. Retreats in kennel. Comes forward after verbal encouragement with lowered head, low ears and tucked body language. Tolerant of handling around neck and head while removing slip leash by hand. Volunteer notes to date are consistent with staff notes. Additional notes that dog can be very playful and offers play bows to handler, may make moderate body contact during handler directed play. A: Environmentally sensitive and timid young dog who appears to be uncomfortable in new environments. Becomes very playful and more relaxed with ball play. Does not appear to have any training, but walks well on leash following handlerbx00#25;s lead. Medium energy. Shows enjoyment with pets. Possibly house trained (eliminates immediately in the yard). Has not shown interest in treats. Yellow for volunteer handling: environmentally sensitive and some volunteers not able to walk d/t pancaking in the hallway. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers. P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Recommend slow and structured introduction to new environments.
