Foster or forever home wanted, meet Jack, aka SURVIVOR JACK!!! This boy joined the rescue from Animal Friends of the Valley shelter. He was a staff and volunteer favorite during his stays (yes multiple) at the shelter. Jack first entered the shelter on May 28, 2022, left in the shelter's night drop as an 8 week old puppy, along with another puppy. He was adopted three days later and would end up breaking with parvo. He was treated and thankfully survived.
Jack found himself back at the shelter due to no fault of his own, when his family was relocating out of the country and could not take him. He was truly a loved member of the family and they made sure to leave lots of favorable notes about him when they dropped him at the shelter on July 8, 2026.
The family said Jack is an energetic and friendly boy who has been around adults. He is housebroken but needs encouragement to go outside. He is playful with other dogs but will chase cats. He rides well in the car and does not jump over the fence or dig in the yard and stays out of the trash. He knows how to shake and likes to play ball and go on walks. He is fearful of fireworks. The volunteer dog walkers at the shelter said he walks great on the leash and is always checking in! He is always overjoyed and happy to see everyone that comes to meet him.
As in the case of many family dogs left at the shelter and now being confined to a kennel run most of the time, it starts to take its toll on the best of dogs. After nearly two months at the shelter, even great dogs like Jack run out of time. Well, we heard his story and had to help.
Since Jack just came to us the end of August, we are still getting to know him. But so far, everything the shelter told us about him has proven to be true. We would really love to get Jack back into a home as soon as possible. Jack is located in Southern California.
