Junior is an extremely sweet, friendly little Beagle who would love nothing more than to be your adventure buddy and then curl up beside you on the couch. He enjoys walks, car rides, meeting new dogs, and playing with his foster family's resident Beagle. He's also a pretty laid-back guy who doesn't require a lot of exercise and is just as happy relaxing at home. Like most Beagles, Junior loves following his nose wherever it leads him, so a securely fenced yard is important. He's surprisingly quiet for a Beagle, although he will occasionally let you hear his signature Beagle voice! He's learned to sit, lie down, and roll over, and he's continuing to make progress with potty training. Junior is kennel trained and sleeps comfortably in his kennel overnight and when his foster family is away, but he'd be more than happy to snuggle up with you instead. He's been wonderful with the children he's met, enjoys other dogs, and has no known experience with cats. He walks nicely on a leash, loves bully sticks and stuffed toys, and is very affectionate and loyal.
Junior does have a curious Beagle nose and a little adventurous streak! He's managed to escape from the yard several times and has even wiggled out of a harness when something interesting caught his attention. He isn't looking to run away and tends to stay nearby, comes when called, and simply wants to explore, but his new family will need to be extra careful with secure fencing, properly fitted walking equipment, and supervision outdoors. He's also still working on potty training and may occasionally get into the garbage, so keeping trash cans secured is recommended. Like many Beagles, he can be a little stubborn, vocal, and very food-motivated, but overall he's an easygoing, loving little guy. If you're looking for a sweet companion who enjoys both adventures and quiet cuddle time, Junior might be your perfect match!
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
