Anyone who has ever worked with rescue breeder dogs knows that some of the hardest souls to bring around are the breeder mommas.
One can only imagine what their lives must have been like.
We see them time and time again. Their little feet and legs stained halfway up from standing in urine and feces. Dogs who have spent so much of their lives confined to crates, never knowing the simple pleasures that most dogs take for granted.
No soft bed. No loving arms. No understanding of what it means to simply be someone’s beloved pet.
Those are the dogs that tug at our heartstrings the hardest. ❤️
And sometimes, even after they’re rescued, their journey to healing is far from over.
Sometimes they land in a home that, despite the best intentions, simply isn’t the right environment for what they need emotionally.
And that brings us to Daisy B.
This beautiful little Bernedoodle girl was pulled from a shelter, but her journey is only beginning.
Daisy B doesn’t need someone to fix her overnight. She doesn’t need a busy household, lots of visitors, or people expecting her to behave like a typical happy-go-lucky doodle.
She needs PEACE. She needs PATIENCE. And most importantly, she needs someone willing to meet her exactly where she is. ❤️
WHAT DAISY B NEEDS:
A quiet, peaceful home with no children.
A patient, compassionate foster who understands that trust is earned, not demanded.
Someone who will celebrate the smallest victories, even if that means simply watching her relax in the same room.
She could potentially live with one other calm, appropriate dog or she is fine with being the only dog. Right now, we’re still learning what works best for her. She doesn’t mind other dogs, but she doesn’t actively interact with them either.
Most importantly, someone who understands that a dog doesn’t have to be affectionate right away to be worthy of love.
We have seen dogs like Daisy B blossom into the most extraordinary companions when given the right environment and the gift of time.
And here’s something we’ve learned after years in rescue…
Sometimes the dogs who need the most patience are the very dogs who end up changing our lives the most.
Daisy B may never forget where she came from, but with the right person, she can learn that the rest of her life will be different.
She deserves that chance.
