Sammy is a male cat with an old injury to his left hind limb (LH), resulting in the loss of the limb from the distal tibia down. Due to the extent of the injury and the remaining portion of the limb, surgical amputation is recommended to prevent potential complications, address any associated discomfort, and improve his mobility and overall quality of life. Sammy will require specialized veterinary surgical evaluation, complete amputation of the affected limb, and appropriate postoperative pain management and recovery care. This level of specialized surgical intervention and recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment.Despite his condition, Sammy remains resilient and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Sammy needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive prompt surgical evaluation, amputation of his affected limb, and appropriate postoperative care to help him recover and enjoy a comfortable quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to medical concerns beyond our scope of care.
