Poppy (A143919) is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighed just under 10 pounds on intake! Poppy is looking for a foster-to-adopt! 10/27/26 This little lady is Poppy! Poppy was surrendered to the shelter because she was growling at the child in the home. It never progressed other than vocalizing and trying to communicate her discomfort. We are recommending that she goes to a home without children to help set her up for success. She can also be wary of men and prefers women. We have found that she warms up to our female care staff when given time. She is looking for a home that will not rush her and allow her to gain that trust and confidence. She does find her kennel to be her safe place and was said to be mostly housebroken (but does still defecate inside on occasion). However, she is potty pad-trained and uses it consistently when provided. She has no known experience with other animals. If you have other pets it is very important that slow, safe, and controlled introductions be made. If you are interested in meeting Poppy with the intent to foster-to-adopt, please let us know!
