Ferdinand, such a great name for an amazing survivor of a vicious attack by a group of dogs, who left him with several wounds. You would think he would be wary of other dogs, but no, he is a SUPER dog friendly! Nor did it dampen his personality. Resilient, might be the word to describe him! To know Ferdinand is to love him.Ferdinand is around 2 years old weighing in at 65 pounds. He has a short black and white coat and super straight and tall black ears! He is a blue heeler/German short haired pointer mix.As might be expected little is known about his background. This mix is known for its high energy, and love lots of exercise or playtime with other dogs. They are smart, goofy, clingy, and love to lean on you. They do not like to be bored, so mental stimulation and toys are a must, as they like to keep busy. Little is known about him, but he is working on his house, leash, and crate training. Ferdinand will need someone who will provide time and energy in training a young adult dog. He will need the right guidance mixed with consistency, repetition, and patience. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping him master those daily routines. Daily walks will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. (It will also be an opportunity to find out what commands he knows). It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. A secure back yard would give him free time to play and burn off extra energy. For Ferdinand, the world is an open book, and his future is brighter than ever. Bring him into your life and write the rest of his story with love, compassion and companionship. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Ferdinand is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees.
