Meet Jasper! Your 40-Pound Lap Dog in a German Shepherd Package Jasper is a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds, with a big personality and an even bigger love for cuddles! This sweet boy is convinced he’s a lap dog, and if you sit down to watch TV, don’t be surprised when he jumps up to snuggle. Kisses, belly rubs, bedtime cuddles, and being held close are all at the top of his favorite-things list!Jasper also has a playful side. He loves playing fetch, going for walks, playing with other dogs, and working on puzzles and enrichment games. He’s a smart boy who is eager to learn and already knows “sit.” He’s making great progress with his name recognition and potty training, too!Jasper is still learning the ropes when it comes to being a well-mannered housemate. He’s working on house training and crate training, and he may bark or whine when he’s nervous in his crate, but he settles down after a few minutes. He can also be a bit mouthy with clothes and strings, so continued training and supervision will help him learn what’s okay to chew. He does reasonably well on a leash and rides well in the car when secured with a seat belt, although he may try to climb into your lap for extra attention!Jasper warms up to people quickly, even if he initially barks at strangers. He gets along with other dogs when properly introduced, but his enthusiasm can get the best of him during playtime. He’ll need a family willing to help him learn boundaries, recognize when it’s time for a break, and continue building his social skills. His compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown.This energetic, affectionate boy would love an active home that can provide about 1–2 hours of exercise daily, plenty of enrichment, and lots of opportunities to play and learn. A fenced yard would be a bonus, though an apartment could work with enough exercise and long walks.Jasper is still a young dog figuring out how to be his best self. He’ll need a family with patience, consistency, and a willingness to continue his training—but in return, you’ll get a devoted cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be part of your world.Think you have room on your lap for Jasper?
