This is REDFORD, a lover boy who has been with us for just over a year now. Initially, he had warnings on his cage, because he would hide in his carrier and lash out, but he was just a scared guy really, and not knowing if he could trust us. REDFORD totally transformed when he was let out of his cage and realized we were not going to hurt him, and now he's a truly loyal and loving cat, who craves attention and really deserves a home. We hate to see him confined to our shed for another winter.
REDFORD is FiV+, but healthy. He can be with other cats as FiV is only transmitted through deep bite wounds to other cats, and not transmitted through food or water bowls and licking another cat. Our estimate is he's around 3 to 5 years of age.
Redford came from to us as an unfixed cat, and was one of five outdoor cats being cared for by a young woman living with her parents. When she moved away and couldn't take them, her parents refused to continue feeding them. Thankfully, we were able to trap all five and bring them into our care.
We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats' Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation to our group. On average, we spend over $250 to cover spay and neutering, testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming and any vet care/medicine that is needed. We ask for a minimum donation of $80 per cat, and that adopters pay more if they are able to. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more cats. It is important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and give them a home for life.
