Meet Maple—A Sweet Puppy with a Bright Future
With her warm red coat, soulful eyes, and wonderfully floppy ears, Maple is an easy girl to fall for. This 10-month-old, smooth-coated standard Dachshund currently weighs about 17 pounds. She’s nearly finished growing, and we expect she will probably remain close to 20 pounds.
Maple was found wandering and taken to a shelter, where no one came to claim her. Now safe in her Santa Barbara foster home, she’s getting the care, comfort, and attention every puppy deserves—and showing us what a lovely companion she can be.
Friendly and curious, Maple enjoys meeting adults, children, and dogs both large and small. She brings that wonderful puppy interest to the world around her, with plenty left to discover and learn.
She already has an impressive start on her manners! Maple is potty trained, knows how to sit, and walks beautifully on a leash. When her person stops, she even moves herself back into place beside them—a charming little habit that makes walks together especially enjoyable.
Maple is recovering quickly from her recent spay surgery and taking her recovery in stride. She’s a good eater and takes her pills readily, making her daily care that much easier. She is also vaccinated and microchipped.
For all her lovely qualities, Maple is still very much a puppy. She needs a family ready to invest time, patience, and love in her upbringing. Continued positive training, consistent routines, appropriate activity once she has healed, and gentle guidance will help her build on the good habits she’s already learning. Her future family should look forward to helping a young dog grow in confidence and become her very best self.
Maple has a whole lifetime of companionship ahead of her. We’re looking for people who will treasure her puppy days, support her as she matures, and give her the lasting security of a loving home.
