Zeus, The Brave Little Shadow
Zeus is 2 years old and about 7 pounds of pure heart, packed into a Chiweenie body with soft gray fur and little tan eyebrows that make him look permanently worried.
When you first meet Zeus, you won't meet Zeus at all.
He'll tuck himself behind a blanket, behind your legs, behind anything. His ears go low, his big brown eyes get even bigger, and he trembles like he's trying to decide if you're safe. New people are just too much for a little guy who feels everything so big.
But Zeus has a superpower: he watches.
He watches from his corner how you talk. How you move. Whether you're gentle with other animals — because oh, does this boy love other animals. A cat, a dog, a bunny — to Zeus, they are instant friends, no interview required. If they have four paws, he has a tail wag waiting.
And slowly, minute by minute, he inches closer.
First, just his nose.
Then a paw on the blanket.
Then — if you’re lucky and patient and kind — he leans his whole tiny body against your foot and sighs.
That's it. That's the moment. You've been chosen.
From that second on, you have a shadow. A 7-lb, 2-year-old shadow named Zeus who will follow you everywhere. Bathroom? He's coming. Kitchen to get a snack? He's already there, sitting pretty on his knit blanket, looking up like, "We made it together." Couch? He's a little loaf right against your side.
He's not clingy. He's loyal. He was just waiting to be sure you were his person.
And once you are? You're his person forever.
