MS. ANITA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: MS. ANITA Best Guess for Breed: LAB/SHEPHERD MIX
Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of Aug. 2026 SEX: female
Approximate Weight: 49 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! We think Anita would do best in a home without cats.
Currently Living at: SC SHELTER. Ms. Anita needs a foster or forever home to come to DC.
Special adoption considerations: Ms. Anita is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Ms. Anita is Looking For: Ms. Anita has a heart as big and sweet as her floppy ears! With her gorgeous brownie-colored coat, her classy socks, and her signature one-ear-up, one ear-down move, she is ready to win your heart! Ms. Anita recently did the hard work of raising her impassibly cute puppy Lil Sassy and now it’s finally her turn to be pampered and loved. Ms. Anita’s breed mix tends to bring the loyal, smart nature of a shepherd combined with the friendly, eager-to-please attitude of a lab. Ms. Anita would thrive in a home where she can get plenty of love, regular walks, and a cozy spot to relax. Oh and good dog food! She can’t wait to meet the family that will cherish her.
