PHELPS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Phelps Best Guess for Breed: Lab and beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 8 months as of August 2026 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 31 lbs as of 8/17 - he is still growing!

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! We have tested Phelps with some of the cats at the shelter, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that he could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack.
Currently Living at: Rural shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!Phelps is Looking For: Hi! I'm looking for a home where I get to go on lots of adventures with my new humans - long sniffy walks, romps in parks, world exploration! I want to make pup pals along the way! And I'd like to go to dog school too, so I can show how super smart I am.But most of all I want to always be safe and loved, to know where I belong. I have so much love and loyalty to give. What do you say? Does that sound like a fair trade to you? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has spent time in foster care. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog.

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
