Personality, Breed Info & Expectations
Kanela's story is one of incredible resilience. She was found wandering the streets, painfully thin and desperately searching for food. Day after day, she struggled to survive, never knowing when she would find her next meal or a safe place to rest. By the time she was rescued, she was starving, exhausted, and in need of immediate care. Thanks to the love and dedication of her rescuers, Kanela has made an amazing recovery and is finally learning what it feels like to be safe.
Despite everything she endured, Kanela has remained incredibly kind and gentle. She has a sweet, affectionate personality and enjoys being around people who show her patience and love. She gets along well with other dogs and takes comfort in having canine companions nearby. Every day, her confidence continues to grow as she discovers that life can be filled with kindness instead of hardship.
As a Feist Terrier Mix, Kanela is intelligent, loyal, and eager to be part of a family. Feist Terriers are known for their affectionate personalities, alert minds, and playful nature. They enjoy spending time with their people, learning new things, and participating in everyday activities. While they appreciate exercise and adventure, they are equally happy relaxing with the people they love after a fun day together.
Kanela would thrive in a home prepared for:
Daily companionship and affection
Continued positive reinforcement training
Regular walks and moderate exercise
Mental stimulation through toys and enrichment activities
Continued socialization with people and other dogs
Structure, consistency, and routine
A lifelong commitment to her emotional and physical well-being
After surviving life on the streets, Kanela isn't looking for a perfect home—she's simply looking for a family that will love her, protect her, and never let her wonder where her next meal or safe place to sleep will come from again.
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Like many rescue dogs, Kanela may need time to adjust to a new home and routine. Although she has made tremendous progress since being rescued, moving into a new environment can be overwhelming at first.
With patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement, Kanela will continue building confidence and learning that she is finally home.
Kanela will benefit from:
Positive reinforcement training
A consistent daily routine
Continued socialization
Daily walks and moderate exercise
Mental enrichment through toys and games
Patience, encouragement, and love
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 days to decompress
3 weeks to learn your routine
3 months to fully feel at home
Giving Kanela the time she needs to settle in will allow her loving personality to continue blossoming.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, companionship, exercise, and routine veterinary care.

Routine veterinary care and annual wellness examinations
Spay surgery when appropriate if not already completed
Preventative flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite protection
