I'm still getting acclimated to my new surroundings, having been rescued from a shelter where I ended up as a stray with my time there running out. Behind my initial defensive demeanor, I am a sweet and gentle soul, but right now I'm not always able to show it. I am barrier reactive and can be nervous, but once you earn my trust and get me on a leash, you'll see my true colors shine. I'm making new friends with staff and volunteers, relishing my time in my play yard too. I know basic commands - 'sit', 'down' and 'shake', walk beautifully on a leash and take treats very gently. It's not known if I'll be best buds with other dogs, if I'd get along with cats or if I'd do ok in a home with children. Right now I need a patient and experienced adult to show me that the world isn't so scary, and that I can feel safe and loved. I had a challenging start, and I am searching for someone to take a chance on me. I need an understanding family who can provide structure, patience, and lots of love to help me overcome my fears and blossom into the loyal companion I was always meant to be. Could you be the one to unlock my heart and show me what it means to be loved? If you're willing to open your heart and guide me on my path to healing, you'll be rewarded with the devoted companionship of a dog who will forever be grateful for the second chance you gave me. If you think you're my special person, please fill out an online application to meet me. *Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.
