Meet Gracie Mae!
A charming five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix currently in
Marietta, GA
, whose gentle spirit and white and golden coat bring warmth and companionship wherever she goes.
Gracie Mae is a medium sized girl who weighs about 40 pounds and carries the classic curiosity and musical heart of her hound heritage. She enjoys structure and routine, which help her feel confident and relaxed throughout the day. Stuffy toys and sturdy Benebones are treasures in her world, and a lively game of fetch can instantly bring out her playful side! When playtime winds down, Gracie Mae happily leans in for affectionate snuggles and is especially known for cuddling close to a person's face as if sharing a quiet secret.
Gracie Mae has grown up in a busy household with children, including a neurodivergent child, and she has handled the extra activity and movement with patience and calm. She is comfortable around kids and often enjoys being part of the lively rhythm of family life. Her friendly and steady nature helps her adjust well to the everyday sounds and energy that come with a home full of people.
This friendly girl has lived successfully with another dog and is generally comfortable around people. Her experience with cats is limited, and her hound instincts may encourage her to chase small animals during walks, so thoughtful introductions and attentive guidance will help her succeed. Gracie Mae has learned commands like sit and responds well to patient guidance and positive reinforcement. She is crate-trained and can rest calmly during a workday, although her happiest moments happen when she can share the day with her people.
Gracie Mae has learned to go potty outside and understands the “go potty” command, but she is also accustomed to using pee pads indoors. Outdoor sounds and distractions can sometimes make her feel uncertain, and she does not currently signal when she needs to go outside. Because of this, she often prefers using pee pads where she feels more relaxed in a familiar indoor space. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement training, many families find that routines like this continue to improve over time.
She sometimes feels unsure about delivery drivers or unfamiliar visitors and she benefits from gentle introductions. Because she appreciates companionship, Gracie Mae would thrive in a caring environment where someone is home much of the time and can keep her engaged with play, walks, and connection. When her caregiver travels, Gracie Mae stays at a boarding facility where she has become a favorite among the staff! They appreciate her friendly nature and easygoing personality, which speaks volumes about how well she adapts to new environments and people.
Her vaccinations are up to date, she is spayed, microchipped, and ready to begin her next chapter with a family who will continue the love and structure she knows. Gracie Mae offers joyful companionship, expressive hound charm, and plenty of cuddles for the people lucky enough to share life with her.
