Meet Mirage: A Genetics Miracle!
Mirage is a gorgeous long-haired tortoiseshell girl with a truly fascinating coat! Born in May 2026, her stunning two-tone look is the result of a rare scientific wonder called
X-chromosome inactivation
. Because the genes for orange and black fur sit on the X chromosome, Mirage's cells randomly chose which color to express while she was developing. This created her mesmerizing, mosaic pattern and a face that is split almost perfectly down the middle! She is quite literally a walking work of art.
She absolutely loves being petted and is always the first to chase feather toys, springs, or anything that zips across the floor. Once playtime is over, she will happily jump right into your lap, asking for cuddles and showering you with love.

er siblings were adopted and went home. We moved her into another foster home where she has become buddies with Rerun, so we will be offering them together for adoption.
We will let you know as soon as our Kitten Foster Program Manager reviews the applications received. All of our kittens must be spayed or neutered in our care before adoption can be finalized. Kittens require a $150 minimum adoption fee to help us fund our program. We are looking forward to your application submission.
