[GREEN]Background: Dog was seized on 9/7/26. Appeared to have been abandoned in unsanitary conditions. Full intake done. Dog was given blue dot for fearful kennel presentation, described as growling, groaning, and retreating from handler, on the day following intake. Dog had been in shelter for 14 days at the time of handling evaluation on 9/21/26.O: Dog was sitting at the front of the kennel with hunched posture. Stood and began wagging tail with loose/relaxed body language when spoken to. Easy to leash. Followed handler out to the hallway. Moderate pulling on leash with loose/relaxed body language and neutral posture walking through the building and outside. Dropped leash in the yard. Handler crouched as dog immediately oriented to handler and approached with loose wagging tail, soft eyes, pulled back ears. Soft face and leaned full body weight into pets all over head, neck, chest, back with wagging tail and loose, relaxed body language. Made close body contact throughout handling while making contented grunting noises. Tolerated teeth check. Followed towards tossed toys and balls but did not pick up. Sat when lured. Did not respond to verbal cue for sit. Took treats with a soft mouth, no teeth contact with hand. Began bouncing around and play bowed when handler baby-talked. Followed handler closely while walking off leash in the yard. Returned to kennel ahead of handler. Slip leash removed by hand without issue. Volunteer notes to date are consistent with staff notes.Has been bathed and had nails trimmed by volunteer with no issues handling. A: Approaches handler readily and shows enjoyment with pets. Treat motivated. Unknown if house trained. Knows some basic commands (sit). Easy to walk on leash with moderate pulling. Green for volunteer handling: dog was fearful on intake, but currently reported to be easy to handle and relaxed during outings with a variety of handlers.P: Make available for adoption. Adopters should continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children.
