Meet Whimsy!
Whimsy is an approximately 5-year-old spayed Lab/Shepherd mix — at least that’s our best guess! Whatever her mix, one thing is certain: Whimsy is an incredibly loving and affectionate girl who has so much love to give.
Whether it’s snuggling up beside you on the bed or couch on a rainy day or heading out for a long walk in the sunshine, Whimsy is happiest when she’s spending time with her people.
Whimsy has basic obedience and is house trained and crate trained. Like many dogs, she has a couple of naughty little habits she’s working on. If food is left within reach, she may try her luck with a little countersurfing, and she has been known to investigate the recycling if it’s accessible! Her foster family is working with her on these behaviours, and she’s making progress.
Whimsy is great with cats and generally pays them no mind — even when the cats aren’t particularly interested in being her friends! She also has some dog friends, mostly male dogs. Whimsy isn’t a fan of young, wild puppies or most female dogs, so a home where she can be selective about her canine companions would be best.
She is terrific with her 9-year-old human foster sister and absolutely adores her people. Because of her background, however, Whimsy would likely thrive best in a calmer, quieter home.
Whimsy can be protective when someone arrives at the door. Once she has been properly introduced and her foster mom reassures her that the person is a welcome visitor and not an intruder, she settles in. She is good with both men and women, although she tends to feel more comfortable with women.
We truly believe Whimsy could make an incredible companion for a single woman who is looking for a loyal best friend to share life with.
Whimsy has so much love waiting inside that beautiful heart of hers. She is patiently waiting for “her person” to come along — someone who will give her the love, patience and security she deserves and, in return, receive an incredible amount of love and affection.
