Poppy lights up the moment another dog walks into the room, and that joy is just the beginning of what she has to offer. At four months old and around 15 pounds, this sweet Lab and Beagle mix has a medium energy level that spikes to full puppy zoomies when she gets going. Playing with other dogs brings her the most happiness by far, and she is great at entertaining herself too, tossing her toys around the yard and wrestling with a big stuffed friend. She is enjoying her walks and learning to use a harness, and she already sits nicely and waits for her meals. Poppy is basically housetrained and does wonderfully in her crate, going in willingly for naps and sleeping quietly all night. She is food motivated and responding well to training, especially when liver treats are involved. She was found alone in the woods, so she is still building her confidence and can be timid around new things or sudden movements. With patience and a steady routine, she is coming along beautifully. She does great with other dogs, has calmly observed the resident cat, and enjoys trotting along the fence line watching the goats.
Poppy would be happiest in a home with older kids, a fenced yard or someone committed to keeping her leashed outdoors, and another friendly dog to show her the ropes. Puppy classes would help her blossom, and the right family will be one willing to move at her pace as she learns to trust. If you have patience, a fenced yard, and a canine companion to share, Poppy would love to meet you. Poppy is available after Sept. 18. Reach out to A.A.R.F.
