Meet Kody! Kody is a 12-year-old, 9 lb. Chihuahua with a sweet, social personality and an adorably goofy charm. His tail seems to wag nonstop, and he happily greets just about everyone he meets. Kody is good with adults, kids, dogs and cats, and on walks he’ll stroll right up to new friends with his tail wagging.
For a senior gentleman, Kody still has plenty of pep in his step! He enjoys a daily walk of about three-quarters of a mile, moves at his own pace and keeps up beautifully. He walks well on leash and would be happy with or without a yard as long as he gets regular opportunities to explore outside.
Kody is also a serious cuddle bug. He loves belly rubs, enjoys being close to his people and is incredibly gentle when taking treats or other things from your hand. He is easygoing about being handled and has shown himself to be a trusting little guy.
Kody appears to have some separation anxiety and may whine when left alone, so he would do best with a patient family who can help him feel secure and comfortable when his people are away. He is also working on his potty habits. Kody understands that outside is the place to go, but he has had some accidents and occasional marking indoors. His foster is currently using a consistent potty schedule and a belly band indoors to help reinforce good habits.
Like many senior pups, Kody may be experiencing some vision loss, but he gets around well and doesn’t let it slow him down. He is not a big fan of the crate and may be happiest in a home where crating is not heavily relied upon.
Kody gets along well with other dogs, although he can occasionally get a little possessive of his person when he’s soaking up attention. He responds to boundaries and settles quickly.
Overall, Kody is a sweet, affectionate, social little senior who still has lots of love—and plenty of tail wags—to give. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who enjoys leisurely walks, belly rubs and being by your side, Kody may be your perfect match.
Kody is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $300.
