Hank is a sweet calm friendly 7 year old pup. He’s 50% husky as well as cattle dog German shepherd and mutt. He’s in great health and weight. Hankie would likely do well either as a solo pup or with a sweet gentle dog sibling. He would also likely do well either with just adults or with a family with older kids. He’s wary of cats both curious and maybe a little scared of them. He may do fine in a home with cats that are super comfortable with dogs.
In the past Hank has had isolation anxiety. We’ve worked with a trainer on this for many years and he’s improved immensely. He can now be left home for several hours without issue but he needs someone willing to continue this process with him especially as he settles in with his new family. Hank is generally sweet and easygoing. He loves to sleep in go for a nice long hike and then sunbathe until the sun sets.
Hank knows and obeys commands like sit stay touch shake come and he will wait for us to give him the OK when we set down his food. Hank will spend hours on our fenced front porch calmly watching people dogs and kids go by. He only ever barks when delivery folks come up the steps. Hiking off leash (with his hiking pack of pups or with humans) seems to be when he's the most free and relaxed. He loves to be around people. He's an independent boy and doesn't want every ounce of your attention; instead he'll keep you company in a room but enjoy his own little bubble until the evening when he asks for snuggles before bedtime.
Someone who can accept both Hank’s independence and his need for closeness would be a wonderful fit. Hank goes most places with us and does very well in the car and on adventures to dog-friendly restaurants parks etc! We've worked our hardest to make sure Hank gets the exercise and stimulation he needs each day to help him with his isolation anxiety as it makes a big difference for him! Hank is loved deeply and we hope to find a nurturing and caring new home for him.
We are helping Hank's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue.
