Emmita is a beautiful 4-month-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix already weighing approximately 33 pounds. She is still very much a puppy, but she's growing quickly and will likely be a larger adult dog.
Emmita is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
As a Labrador Retriever mix, Emmita may share many of the qualities Labs are loved for. They are often friendly, affectionate, playful, intelligent, enthusiastic, and people-oriented. Labs also tend to remain playful well beyond puppyhood and generally enjoy being active participants in family life.
Because Emmita is a mixed-breed puppy, her exact adult size, appearance, temperament, and energy level cannot be guaranteed. At only four months old, Emmita is still a baby. Her adopter should expect normal puppy behaviors, including chewing, puppy nipping, occasional potty accidents, bursts of energy, curiosity, distraction, and testing boundaries.
Rescue puppies generally arrive with basic training at best. Her family should be prepared to continue working on:
House training
Crate training as appropriate
Leash manners
Basic commands
Recall
Appropriate chewing
Bite inhibition
Calm greetings
Household boundaries
Continued socialization
Because Emmita is already a bigger puppy, good manners are especially important. Behaviors that seem cute when a puppy is small—such as jumping or pulling on the leash—can become much harder to manage as the dog grows.
