Birthday: March 1, 2022
Dahlia is a sweet and shy girl with a heart full of love who is just waiting for someone patient enough to help her feel safe.
Dahlia came from a hoarding situation where the landlord ultimately said all of the cats had to leave. She was used to living around a large number of cats and spent much of her time outside, where she didn't receive much individual human attention simply because there were so many cats needing care. It's easy to see that Dahlia desperately wants to be loved—she's just a little scared and isn't quite sure how to ask for it yet.
Once Dahlia feels comfortable with you, you'll discover an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl. She loves being petted, and when she's excited for attention, she'll happily circle around you while making biscuits. Those little moments are a glimpse of the loving companion she can become once she knows she is safe.
Dahlia isn't a fan of being picked up right now. She needs to establish trust with her person before she's comfortable being handled that way. With time, patience, and a strong bond, we believe she may eventually tolerate being picked up, but that's something that needs to happen on her terms and at her own pace.
Dahlia would do best in a calm home without young children. Older, respectful children may be a good fit as long as they understand that Dahlia needs patience and gentle interactions. She needs someone who will never rush her and who understands that earning a frightened cat's trust can be one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
Dahlia may take a little time to come out of her shell, but once she trusts you, you'll be rewarded with a super sweet, lovey girl who is more than ready to make up for all the attention she missed. Her excited circles, happy biscuits, and desire for pets are little signs that her affectionate personality has been there all along.
All Dahlia needs is someone willing to see past her fear and give her the time she deserves. Give her patience, kindness, and a safe place to call home, and Dahlia will give you something incredibly special in return—the trust and love of a cat who finally knows she's safe.
Dahlia's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.
