Eddy
Eddy is a neutered male ACD estimated between 2 and 3 years old. He is a tricolor with longer fur and feathering along his back legs and tail. He weighs about 30 pounds.
The best word to describe Eddy is simply: FUN. Eddy has a great personality that shows itself in many ways. He was a stray
but seems to have had some training. When
going for a walk,
he sits and sticks his head out for the harness and then walks nicely on his leash. He plays fetch with relish and always returns the ball and drops it at your feet.
He seems to have no fears
of unknown situations either in the house or outside. He has two canine siblings in foster and he plays very well with them. The male sibling has
an issue with him once in a while and Eddy
seems to take it in
stride, acting
neither aggressively or submissively (but he will
stand up for himself)
. Eddy has greeted visitors to the
house very well- not too over the top before settling near us.
Eddy is truly an athletic dog. His slim body allows him great jumping ability and coordination-he just seems built for dog sports. One time, Eddy jumped straight from a chair right
into the hammock with me-and we didn't flip!! His very treat and food motivated so
training with him is very feasible.
He might seem it, but Eddy isnt perfect - he is a champion counter surfer which will need training to address. He also chews inappropriate things- no furniture, just small things like
pens and cat toys and he likes to move your laundry around the house.
But we found he lets you open up his mouth and take that bottle cap right out and away from him. He is very
responsive to corrections and we have been able to take him from a true cat chaser down to being able to sit with them side by side (he will chase them if they run away). So families
with cats could be considered on a case by case basis.
Eddy has several times tried to bolt out of the house. This was most intense in the first few days of foster but his need to do that seems to be lessening with time. He seems
to think investigating the neighborhood would be alot of fun.For that reason, a secured fence area will probably be
necessary for him. But he isnt trying get away from you
because Eddy is a true cattle dog shadow. He fits the bill if you are looking for a snugly companion, a turn around and there he is boy, or a "hey what are you doing can I help you" guy.
After playing all day he is ready for down time which means lap time! With his smaller size, he fits right on you in the recliner -he may even want to chew his bone laying right
on top of you.
Eddy will do well in a home with or without a canine companion. He really craves human attention and physical contact and will follow you everywhere you go. He does not like
his crate at all. However he has been left alone with full run of the house up to 6 hours at a stretch with no problems.
Eddy is fully vetted and Heartworm negative. For more information or to ask a question about Eddy please email willowbend14@gmail.com
