❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Roxy’s Story
Roxy is a beautiful 1-year-old Chihuahua weighing approximately 12 pounds. This loving little girl has already been through enough to make her special—but she hasn't let her past take away her ability to love.
Roxy was rescued and is missing one eye. While we don't have the details of how she lost it, what matters most is the dog she is today: a loving girl who is ready to move forward and find a family of her own.
Dogs with one eye can typically adapt extremely well. Roxy may have reduced depth perception or a smaller field of vision on one side, but with a safe environment and a little consideration from her family, having one eye doesn't have to stop her from enjoying a happy, active life.
Roxy is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.
As a Chihuahua, Roxy may share many of the traits associated with the breed. Chihuahuas are often affectionate, intelligent, alert, devoted, and deeply attached to their people. They may be little dogs, but they can have enormous personalities and form incredibly strong bonds with their families.

Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
At only one year old, Roxy is a young adult with plenty of life ahead of her. Moving into a new home will still be a big adjustment, and she should be given time to become comfortable with her new surroundings and routine.
Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best. Her adopter should be prepared to continue working on:
House training as needed
Leash manners
Basic commands
Household boundaries
Recall
Comfortable handling
Continued socialization
Because Roxy has vision on only one side, approaching her calmly and allowing her to realize someone is there before touching her—particularly from her blind side—can help prevent startling her.

Because she has one eye, her remaining eye is especially important. Her family should make routine eye care part of her overall veterinary care and contact a veterinarian if they notice redness, squinting, discharge, cloudiness, injury, or changes in vision.
