Meet Baxter!
Say hello to Baxter, a little over a year old, 17-pound Chi/Terrier mix who is looking for someone who will show him just how wonderful life can be. ❤️
Baxter came to RCHS after being signed over to animal control by an older woman. Because of his past, he can be very shy and cautious when he first meets you. He needs someone patient who will give him time to learn that he is safe and won’t be hurt. If voices get raised, Baxter gets scared, so a calm and gentle home is a must. He would also prefer a quieter household without a lot of hustle and bustle. Older children would be best for him.
Once Baxter trusts you, though… you’ve got yourself a serious snuggle buddy! He loves curling up with his people and also enjoys playing with his toys.

Baxter may not be the dog who runs up to you and immediately acts like you’ve been best friends forever. He needs a little time to trust—but once he does, he’ll give you his whole heart.
He deserves someone who will be patient with his shy side, celebrate his progress, and show him that people can be kind. Maybe you could be the person Baxter has been waiting for. ❤️
