Hi, I’m Shadow. I came to the rescue as a tiny kitten, which means almost my entire life has been spent in foster homes. I’ve grown up watching other cats find their families while I keep waiting for someone to look at me and say, “You’re the one.” I don’t know why people keep passing me by. I’m a sweet, handsome boy, and I have so much love to give. I’m just still learning to believe that I’m safe and that someone might really stay.
I may need a little time to trust you, but once I do, you’ll discover the gentle boy underneath my initial shyness. I love curling up beside my people, getting pets, and sometimes settling right into a lap. I’m learning every day that hands can be kind and that new things don’t have to be scary. My foster mom has watched me become more confident, and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.
I have some very important hobbies, too. I’m the official neighborhood watch captain, spending plenty of time at the window monitoring deliveries, supervising the yard, and making absolutely certain no unauthorized squirrels or birds cross the property line. I love my red ball, feather toys, and furry mice—and apparently, I believe those mice deserve a nice bath in my water bowl. When my foster mom started rinsing the bowl, I simply moved my mouse stash to my food bowls. A boy has to have hobbies!
What I really want, though, is my person. Someone patient enough to let me approach on my own terms. Someone who understands that trust isn't built in a day, but that once you earn it, it means everything. I would love a peaceful home where I can finally stop wondering when I’ll have to move again and start learning what it feels like to belong. I’d be happiest as your one-and-only kitty, though I may be able to share my home with another gentle and calm adult cat with a slow introduction. Respectful older children could be a good fit, too.
I’m healthy, fully vaccinated, have perfect litterbox manners, and I’m ready for a forever home. I’ve spent nearly my whole life waiting. I’ve watched people come and go, and I’m still here, hoping that my person will finally see me. Maybe you are the person I've been so patiently waiting for.
If I sound like your kind of guy, my foster mom is most receptive to visits from approved applicants.
