Responding to a call from a concerned traveler after spotting a dog alongside a guardrail on a VERY busy roadway, our ACO Supervisor combed the area. Finally, after a second search, Batman- a medium-sized black Labrador mix- was located lying on the opposite side of the guardrail in tall grass. As our ACO Officer approached the dog, its body language indicated that it was very fearful. Our officer took her time to allow Batman to realize she was there to help him. Soon, he crawled toward her on his belly while wagging his tail, finally relieved to be headed for safety. Our officer also learned very quickly that Batmanâs super hero power is to become like Velcro, when you are walking him⦠sticking close! Without knowing what he may have endured before arriving to the shelter, this super sweet boy did great with all of his intake exams and just needed a little time to warm up.Batman met a similar sized neutered male on leash and this guy was ready to play! Batman is a very energetic and playful boy - ready to wrestle and play from the start. He can be a little vocal when playing, and our ICAS Volunteers Janet and Caroline learned quickly that if he sees another dog, he is quickly inviting them to play! He enjoys playing with stuffed toys that squeak, but he is not really a fan of fetch, he mainly just likes carrying the toy in his mouth and showing it off. LOVE IT! Very affectionate. Batman is really good on the leash, but when heading back inside, he would rather NOT! We always recommend meet and greets with and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all, also! Because he was a stray, we don't know how he does with cats and have no way to test for that.Come and meet this sweet and adorable guy in person to see if he is meant to spend forever with your family! All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family memberâs health and wellness. If you canât promise forever, please consider waiting to adopt until you can!
