Cookie is one of those dogs that goes in for an immediate hug—but not in an overwhelming way; rather, in a very gentle, quiet manner, asking for reassurance in this loud, scary shelter environment, where she has suddenly found herself at five years of age. She seems like the kind of dog that might’ve had a quiet home before now. She might’ve known all the luxuries of soft surfaces and predictable routines. And she seems truly at a loss as to why she’s not in that life anymore.She’s going to blossom with a family that shows her first and foremost what love and stability look like. While she currently pulls some on leash, it seems to be born from anxiety, as she tries to just get away from the shelter property as fast as possible. She lapses into moments of loose-leash walking and that’s likely going to be more her speed, once she’s in a neighborhood where she feels safe.She has been paired with a young male, who’s a little bit bigger than her, and has shown no reactivity towards other dogs on leash. She’s most likely going to do well with a doggy friend in the house, if slow introductions are used.
