Mama Bear is only about 1.5–2 years old, but she has already learned a heartbreaking lesson about people.
Her “owners” moved away and left her behind in the backyard with her babies. No food. No reliable water. Just a young mother trying to keep her puppies alive.
One kind neighbor stepped in and did their best to provide food and water. Another neighbor reportedly threatened to shoot them because they were considered a nuisance. We can’t confirm exactly what happened, but we were also told Mama’s mate had already been killed by that neighbor.
Whatever the truth behind those circumstances, one thing is certain: Mama Bear and her babies deserved so much better.
And now… they have it. ❤️
Mama has an absolutely incredible temperament. She is gentle, easygoing, and wonderful with both people and other dogs. She seems genuinely relieved to finally be safe, and she’s been steadily gaining weight and getting healthier since coming into rescue.
She should never have had to fight so hard just to survive.
Now Mama Bear gets to be cared for. Her babies get to grow up knowing what safety feels like. And for the first time, this little family has people who will make sure they are never forgotten or left behind again.
