Meet Maggie, a 10-month-old, 20lb. Australian Shepherd mix with a heart full of love.
She adores snuggling with her foster fur siblings and foster human sibling and is very affectionate.
She sleeps through the night in bed with her people/animals and she loves toys, balls, tug of war, and hanging out with other dogs and cats. She is playful and energetic and loves the rain.
She is house trained, walks great on a leash and rides well in a car. Maggie still has a lot of puppy in her, and she would do best with a yard and another doggy companion to match her energy level, but not 100% necessary as long as she gets lots of physical and mental activity games with her humans. Maggie is friendly with cats, kids and dogs and is affectionate with anything and anyone. She loves to greet new people like they are her best friends but is working on her manners. She’s a sweet, cuddly pup ready for her forever home.
We are preferring someone with herding dog experience. Even though she is good with kids, high-drive herding breed dogs such as Maggie may want to herd small children, so older children would probably be best. She also is a very intelligent breed, and will need someone who can provide the time for daily mental stimulation activities such as advanced treat puzzles, shell games with cups, DIY indoor scent searches, muffin tin and tennis ball games, and targeted trick-training sessions. This is not a breed that can be left to just lie around while you work or be left home alone. She will need someone who is home more often than not. She will also need regular brushing and grooming.
