Staying indoors will shield him from outdoor dangers like traffic, predators, and getting hopelessly lost. Inside the home, he'll navigate beautifully by creating a mental map of his surroundings, using his whiskers to sense nearby obstacles and his paws to detect changes in flooring texture. To support a blind cat, owners simply need to keep the home layout consistent, avoid moving furniture, keep floors free of clutter, and use vocal cues to avoid startling them. With a predictable routine and a safe environment, a blind cat can play, bond, and live just as happily and confidently as a sighted pet. Also Tootsie Pop has improved so much by having Gumdrop as a friend. He was initially alone and not thriving, but Gum Drop changed all that!Insights from his foster:Donât be fooled by Tootsie Pop's demure name, he is a fighter! Tootsie is completely blind and has come back from a URI diligently and quickly. He is a bright, sweet cat who is adapting well to a world where he canât see. But he couldnât have done it without his best friend Gumdrop. He feels safe with her, plays with her, and grooms her. They really love each other. He is learning a lot and is growing every day. This is a very sweet cat, who deserves a great rest of his life, hopefully with Gumdrop, his angel. He really needs a kind, patient cat companion and Gumdrop fits purrfectly! I love Tootsie because he has been through a lot and is so resilient and brave. I love seeing him grow and get stronger and more confident. I am proud of this cat, heâs inspiring.
