Meet Mabel!
Mabel is a beautiful 4-year-old tan and white Shih Tzu who is a puppy mill survivor. Since coming into rescue, she has made wonderful progress and is beginning to enjoy the comforts and security of life in a loving home.
Like many mill dogs, Mabel is still gaining confidence every day. She is doing well with housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule and is learning to walk on a leash. She enjoys riding in the car and especially loves spending time with her person. Watching her personality continue to blossom has been incredibly rewarding.
Mabel gets along well with other dogs and must have a companion dog of similar size and energy to help her continue building confidence. She also requires a secure, physically fenced yard, as she is still learning that the world is a safe place.
Because of her puppy mill background, Mabel will do best with an experienced owner who understands that patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement are the keys to helping her continue to thrive. She is looking for a family that will allow her to progress at her own pace and celebrate each new milestone along the way.
Mabel would do best in a home with no children under the age of five. She also requires a strong veterinary reference.

Mabel's adoption donation is $550 and she is being fostered in Athens, Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, is on flea prevention, and has also had a dental cleaning.
