My name is HARRY (haerang) and here is a little info about me: Breed: Jindo MixAge: 4.5 yearsGender: MaleWeight: Approximately 7.5 kg / 16.5 lbsHeight: 37 cm / 14.6 inches, ground to shoulderHighlight(s): Quiet, calm, gentle, house trained, good leash manners, affectionate once bondedI am a quiet and calm little Jindo mix with a golden-tan coat and soft cream markings. I may take some time to open my heart, but once I trust you, I show my affection in a soft and gentle way.I was rescued in South Korea when I was about 3 months old. My sibling and I were found tied on short metal chains in a field, where we were being kept like farm guard dogs. After speaking with the owner, my rescuers were able to rescue both of us. My sibling was adopted in Korea, but I was more reserved and needed more time to build trust with people. Since being rescued, I have been safely cared for. Over time, I have slowly learned that people can be kind, and I am now ready to find a calm and patient family of my own. I am quiet, calm, gentle, reserved, and observant. I am comfortable being approached and touched by people, but I am not the type of dog who immediately runs up to strangers or asks for affection right away. I like to observe first, feel safe, and then slowly build trust. It may take me more than 2 weeks to become comfortable with new people and a new environment. Once I feel safe, I accept gentle touch well and show affection in my own quiet way. I respond best to calm, patient, and kind people who allow me to open up at my own pace. I do not usually fight with other dogs. However, I do not enjoy dogs who are much bigger than me, overly playful, or constantly bothering me. I am not a dog who bites or starts fights, but I prefer calm and respectful dog friends. My best home would be a quiet, calm, and patient home. I need a family who will give me time to settle in and build trust at my own pace. I am not a dog who demands constant attention or acts overly affectionate from the beginning. However, with a family who waits for me and treats me gently, I can slowly show my sweet and affectionate side. I could be happy as the only dog, or I could live with a calm and respectful dog. A home with a very large, high-energy, or overly playful dog may be stressful for me. A home with children may be possible, but a quiet adult home, or a home with older respectful children who understand how to give dogs space, would be better suited for me.Energy Level: ModerateDogs: Yes. I get along best with calm and respectful dogs. I do not enjoy dogs who are much bigger than me, overly playful, or keep bothering me.Cats: Unknown. I have shown little interest in cats, but I have not been fully tested living with cats.Kids: Unknown. A calm home environment would suit me best. If there are children, older respectful children who understand how to give a dog space would be a better match for me.Predation: No predation qualities have been noticed.Fears: I can be reserved with new people and new environments at first. It may take me more than 2 weeks to build trust, so please be patient assisting me in my transition. If you do not rush me and approach me gently, I can gradually feel safe and open up.Training: I accept basic handling well and I am comfortable being touched by people. Because I am naturally reserved, I need time to build trust before I become affectionate. Leash skills: Yes. I have good leash manners and walk calmly on leash. Please continue helping me build a calm walking routine in my new environment. House trained: Yes. I have good house training. Please help me learn the potty routine in my new home as I settle in.Health notes: No known health issues at this time. I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this.
