Caspian
is a sweet 1-year-old Beagle who was born into a research facility. From the moment he entered the world, he never experienced the joys of a normal puppyhood.
Like so many others, he was separated from his mother very early — sometimes as young as 5 weeks old — and raised in a sterile laboratory environment. Thanks to the tireless work of animal advocates and a strong public outcry, Ridglan Farms was exposed, leading to the rescue of many dogs, including Caspian.
He had never felt sunshine, enjoyed playful cuddles, or tasted real dog food. Everything is brand new to him: learning to chew, drink from a bowl, walk on a leash, play with toys, house train, and most importantly, trust humans.
Caspian is a loving boy who is making wonderful progress, but he still needs time, patience, and understanding as he continues learning how to be a dog.
Important Requirement:
Caspian must be adopted into a home that already has a well-balanced, existing dog. A younger, playful companion would be ideal to help guide him. Applications from homes without another dog will not be considered — these dogs learn best by following a confident canine friend.
He is currently eating more consistently, about 60% house trained, and walking well on leash. He still experiences occasional motion sickness and has a sensitive stomach as he adjusts to new foods and supplements. Because he can startle easily, he would not be suitable for homes with toddlers or young children.
Adoption fee is $550 which helps cover all of the medical for all of the dogs in the rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and many have received further treatment for such conditions as lump removal, severe ear infections, dental cleanings, bloodwork, leg injuries, etc..
We do out of state adoptions but require a submitted application, a home visit (sometimes we cannot get this done and then we can not adopt), and the adopter must come to Las Vegas to meet the potential dog(s), possibly adopt, and then drive the dog back.
Disclaimer: The SNBRF has the right to deny applications based on our adoption policies established for the consideration of the health, safety, and well-being of the dog. Beagles can have a lifespan of 15-18 years. Therefore, beagles or any other breed who are under 3 years of age will NOT be adopted to anyone over the age of 62. For individuals who are 70 years of age and older, the dogs must be 8 years or older
